It has only been 6 months and it is rumored that the battle royal game Rumbleverse is going to get shut down. Rumbleverse was launched in August 2022 for PC via Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. This free-to-play brawler battle royale sets 40 players against each other, with the objective of being the last one standing. While the idea is identical to that of any other battle royale game, Rumbleverse stands out with its cartoony look and wrestling-style combat mechanics. The second season ofRumbleverse, which debuted in November 2022, added additional weaponry, special moves, and customization possibilities to the base game.

The idea of the game was quite unique to the other battle royal games out there, it is safe to say the theme was close to Fortnite and it was not all guns blazing, it got some hardcore wrestling twist given to it. And in no time Rumbleverse got the title of one of the best multiplayer games and received a lot of appreciation from the gaming community. Since the release of the game, it soon gained good traction in the market. What’s more, is that it is a free-to-play game so a lot of streamers played it and people really enjoyed the gameplay.
An Insider reports that Rumbleverse will be shutting down next month
However, the game’s presence in the community was very shortlived because Rumbleverse is likely to be shutting down at the end of February, with the first stores removed beginning today. If the news of the cancellation is accurate, gamers will only have one month to enjoy Rumbleverse before the free-to-play brawler battle royale goes offline. So far there is no official announcement by the developers of the game about shutting down the game.
But it is evident that the game may find its end road because Tom Henderson, a well-known industry insider, tweeted that Rumbleverse will be closing at the end of February. Henderson has also mentioned that he believes store delistings will begin as soon as today. It suggests that there will be an official announcement shortly.
And in the comment section and retweets it is pretty evident that the community is quite puzzled and shooting loads of questions. Some users presented their favorite moments of the game and how they enjoyed the game with their friends. However, the question remains why is the game shutting down just after being active for only 6 months? Some believe that the developing company of the game, Iron Galaxy might create a new edition in its successful Killer Instinct franchise, instead of focusing on this game.
Fan Reactions
Many gamers are already feeling sad about Rumbleverse’s closure, while others are sad but unsurprised that it is occurring, according to the comments to Henderson’s claim. Many people are skeptical of Henderson’s claim, but if he’s correct, we may anticipate official confirmation from Iron Galaxy or Epic Games shortly.
