Oculus Quest 2 is a virtual reality headset that was released on October 13 by Meta, starting at $299 for the 64GB version and $399 for the 128 GB version. And soon it captured a market because it revolutionized the VR experience. The headset is the successor to the Oculus Quest, which was released in early 2018. The Oculus Quest 2 features a new design, better performance, and more games.
The original version of the headset offered an immersive VR experience thanks to the use of the inside-out tracking technology developed by Oculus. However, the tracking only worked with stationary objects such as tables or chairs. This limitation meant that you could interact with virtual objects and environments only if they were set up ahead of time.
With the launch of the Oculus Quest 2, the company introduced a new software called ‘VR Chaperone’ which helps to mitigate some of the limitations of the original headset. This includes being able to walk around in virtual environments and interact with virtual objects around you without the risk of running into a wall or getting bumped into by another player.
Another new feature of the Oculus Quest 2 is the ability to add multiple users to one system without having to purchase additional headsets. This is useful for group gaming sessions where people can interact with each other through a shared environment.
The Oculus Quest 2 also includes a revamped and improved interface as well as a more powerful processor that makes the headset more responsive and provides better overall performance.
If you’re a fan of Roblox, then you’ll want to check out its virtual reality (VR) version! VR is a great way to experience the game in a whole new way, and it’s even better when it’s free. You’ll need to download the Roblox VR app from the Oculus Store or Steam to get started. Once installed, you can log in to your account and start playing right away.
You’ll be able to chat with your friends while playing the game, and you’ll also be able to access all your saved games from the PC version. Another great thing about the VR version of Roblox is that it’s compatible with all PCs equipped with an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive headset.
How to play Roblox on Oculus Quest 2?
While there is currently no official method to play Roblox on the Oculus Quest 2, there is a simple workaround. If you’ve set up a virtual desktop in Quest 2, you’re already familiar with Oculus Link. Meta’s official Oculus Quest 2 program, this software lets Quest 2 users link their PC to their Quest 2 and play games on the latter. Roblox will effectively operate on your PC and be broadcast to the Oculus Quest 2’s display. Users can accomplish this with cables or fully wirelessly.
The first and most important requirement is, of course, a virtual reality-capable computer. Because the games will run on the PC, you will need a PC that can play games and broadcast at the same time without being blocked. If you’re unclear whether your system is capable, check out the official Oculus Link PC requirements.
To play Roblox games, you must first install the Roblox player on your PC. If you’re new to Roblox, simply go to any Roblox Game and hit the green play button. This will ask you to install the Roblox player, after which you will be all set.
Make sure the game you’ve chosen is VR-ready, get your headset, and let’s get started. Play Roblox on your Oculus Quest 2 by following the steps below.
- Set up your Oculus Quest 2 Guardian Boundary based on your sitting or standing position.
- If you haven’t already, activate Airlink on Quest 2 using the Oculus software on your PC. If you choose wifi, ensure sure your PC and Quest 2 are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- In the Desktop mode of your PC or Oculus Link, click the Play button for the Roblox VR Game you wish to test.
- Permit Roblox to launch in your browser. You may also click the Always Allow box to ensure that you don’t have to do this again.
- Put your headset on and have a look around. You’re now on Quest 2 in your Roblox game. Your controllers, as in previous games, operate as your hands, so move them about and have fun.
One of the limitations you have to keep in mind is that you just can’t run any Roblox game on VR. You cannot simply open any Roblox game and expect it to convert to Quest 2. Check that the Roblox game you’re launching is VR-ready and compatible with the Oculus Quest 2. Which game will you play? Do tell us in the comment section below.
